Patient Information
Everything you need to know about your journey toward better movement and recovery at SmartMove Physio.
Your Initial Consultation
During your first visit, your physio will review when you began feeling pain, how the injury occurred, your general health, any past surgeries, and your goals.
A comprehensive physical evaluation will be conducted to identify postural faults and musculoskeletal imbalances, including tests for muscle length and strength, joint mobility, and soft tissue integrity.
When clinically indicated, the evaluation will include a cardiorespiratory screening. This involves measuring vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, as well as assessing breathing patterns and chest expansion.
Functional tests, including walking assessments or spirometry, may also be used to establish your baseline exercise capacity and lung function.
Treatment & Modalities
Following your evaluation, a personalized treatment plan will be developed to meet your specific recovery needs. This plan integrates various evidence-based procedures and modalities:
Electrophysical Modalities
Use of targeted technologies to manage pain and support tissue healing, including:
- • Interferential Therapy (IFT)
- • TENS
- • Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS)
- • Shortwave Diathermy
Therapeutic Exercise
Custom exercise programs designed to improve mobility, strength, and overall functional ability.
Breathing Techniques and Positioning
Specific exercises and "positions of ease" to optimize lung volume, reduce the effort of breathing, and improve comfort.
Intensity Monitoring
Using validated tools like the Borg Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE) scale to ensure your exercise program is safe and effective.
Your physio will explain each procedure and provide a tailored at-home exercise program to ensure you maintain progress between visits.
You will also receive personalized advice on ergonomics, positioning, and activity modification for your daily environment.
